The Office of the Dean of Students works to create a living and learning environment in which students can maximize their academic potential. Our goal, consistent with the University's mission, is to support student learning and interpersonal growth that creates engaged citizen leaders. With professional staff located on the second floor of Peabody Hall, throughout Newcomb Hall and in Gibbons House, students will find a team that is available to assist in navigating and developing a unique student experience grounded in the history and traditions of one of the finest higher education institutions in the world.
The Office of the Dean of Students provides 24-hour crisis management and incident response services to University students. The dean on call may be reached by contacting the central office at (434) 924-7133 or, after hours, by contacting the University Police Department at (434) 924-7166 and asking for the dean on call.
You may report an incident involving an act you believe to be motivated by bias using the Just Report It system maintained by the Office of the Dean of Students. You will be contacted by a dean within 24 hours of your report unless you elect to remain anonymous. Please note that an anonymous report may limit the University's ability to fully respond to the alleged act of bias.
The Office of the Dean of Students manages a broad portfolio of spaces for student meetings, social events, and other activities. Spaces may be reserved through Event Planning Services.
